Vocal and Piano StudioHaving performed at the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Cadogan Hall and St Martin in the Fields, Chris has a wide field of knowledge of repertoire. Be it Oratorio, Opera, French Melodie, German Lied or English Song, Chris has spent many years exploring the repertoire in his own performance as well as student-teacher dynamic. It is imperative to Chris that his lessons are informative and rewarding - but equally, hard work.
Being a singer pulls on most of your concentration. It requires all aspects of coordination, vocally and physically, on stage (particularly in Opera). Together in lessons both the student and I will discuss the different muscles masses which enable the voice to function at optimum. We will also work at relocating tension away from the voice to enable freedom of vocalisation. Chris dedicates much of the little time he has between performances to teaching, and after many years of coaching has learned that no two singers are alike. No two voices are a-like. For this reason, it is imperative that student and teacher spend time getting to know a students capabilitie's and pitfalls. It is only then that we can start to build a safely produced, supported sound. His skill for teaching and pedagogical knowledge has been recognised by The Birmingham Conservatoire where he has recently been appointed as a member of the Vocal and Opera Faculty.
